Read the following text and answer the question.

Malin Kundang

A long time ago, there lived a poor widow named Mande Rubayah and her only son, Malin Kundang. To support her family, Mande Rubayah worked to help fishermen move their catches to the mainland. When Malin grew up, he left to work abroad. He promised to return to his village when he became a wealthy merchant who could make his mother happy.

In a foreign country, Malin succeeded in developing his trading business and finally became a rich merchant. He also married the daughter of a respected local elder. But out of shame, he did not dare to confess to his wife's family that he was a poor orphan.

One day, Malin and his wife sailed to Malin's home village because of their business affairs. Mande Rubayah was still alive and recognized Malin from afar. He also felt very happy and ran towards Malin, but sadly Malin insisted not to recognize Mande Rubayah as his mother.

Mande Rubayah was very sad to hear Malin's lies. Then, she prayed to God to punish his child. After praying, the sky was suddenly cloudy and it was rained very hard. Suddenly there was lightning that struck at Malin's feet. Instantly Malin's feet hardened into stone. How shocked Malin and the people around him. He immediately kneeled to apologize to his mother. Unfortunately, what's done is done. Malin's body slowly turned hardened until his entire body became a stone statue.
